Shakespeare today was long and rather boring. Good thing Sheila is still hysterical! We just went over 4 peoples monologues in depth, but it was kind of unhelpful for the rest of us. And Friday we are starting to work on them, so it's not like we all get our monologues reviewed in such detail, but oh well!
Movement was playful today as usual. We played the Pirate Ship game and then played a hand identifying game. Where half the class felt each persons hands and tried to memorize them and then they had to keep their eyes closed and we went in a random order and had them guess. I was the only person in the whole class with nails so every single person identified me right off the bat!
Today is our really long break day, so I ate lunch, and worked on memorizing my two monologues. I've got about half of them each memorized. And then I took an hour and a half long nap....wonderful bliss. Best idea I have ever had. Then we had stage combat, where we continued to learn lots of different slaps/punches/chokes/blocks and the like. He is very strict though and still wants my notes to be longer! Grrrrrr. Oh well!
We dashed out of stage combat and booked it to the theatre. We decided to walk...worst idea ever. I had my computer, package from my mom, notebooks, and books in my backpack and I have short legs so I was having to run to catch up with everyone. But we made it! And we were sitting in nose bleed section, like at the ceiling! I was looking at the top of the actors heads!
So Misanthrope...it was a modern day adaption of it, which was interesting to say the least. The language all still rhymed which was weird and the set furniture was half modern half victorian and the music was both classical in modern for scene changes. They also put in funny London jokes that I actual got, and they made fun of Americans which was great. Keira Knightly was the lead female character and she was AWFUL! She couldn't do an American accent. She strained her voice soooooo much. She hard core overacted and used her hands for everything...let me just say she REALLY needs to stick to the screen, really. And yes, she is super tiny, like the skinniest person I have ever seen! But, on the other side, the lead guy character Damian Lewis, is a sex god. BEAUTIFUL and VERY talented! Ahhhhh. So Keira stinking didn't bother me so much!
We walked back from the show, so I definitely got my exercise and am exhausted! Even with my nap! I'm off to bed!!
